The Waves and The River: Two Haibun and Other Poetry About Cape Cod and the Charles River
A downloadable book
The haibun (俳文) is a traditional Japanese literature form, and one of the predecessors of the haiku (俳句). The haibun is a combination of prose and poetry, traditionally a passage about a travel experience or scene from nature followed by a poem in haiku form. The Waves and The River is a set of two haibun about places in Massachusetts, one about a childhood experience in Cape Cod, and the other about the author's love of the Charles River. This special Candian Wildfires Fundraiser release includes 8 poems about Cape Cod and the Charles River, previously only released as a print zine. It was originally written in Japanese, and is presented beside Romanization of the text and an English translation.
